I give up

I give! I'm going to the doctor Thursday. My shoulder still hurts... not quite as bad but still enough for me to have to take Advil and wear an Aspercream patch. I know he's going to tell me it's a muscle strain and there's nothing I can do.... but I guess it's better to make sure.

I'm extremely excited about having this Friday off and then Monday off for July 4th weekend! 4 day weekend!! Woohoo!

Fertility News: Two weeks from tomorrow I finally get my blood work to see if we can proceed with the transfer. It feels like I've been waiting forever!

Just Call Me SportsCenter

John and I left at 9:30 this morning headed to Cullman to watch Tristan play softball. It was well worth the 8.5 hours spent in the sweltering heat! Here's a video of Tristan "Just Call Me SportsCenter" Z. making a fabulous catch!

I'm such a proud Stepmom!

I had the privilege (yes I said privilege) of watching the USA v Ghana soccer game at a pub with some avid soccer enthusiast today. While I normally find soccer games a snooze fest, this game was full of excitement. It had all of the intrigue and suspense as an Alabama football game. USA was the underdog allowing a goal in the first five minutes of play however, they came back to tie. It ended with USA losing in overtime but I was proud of my country for making it to the top 16. I don't know that I'll start watching soccer on a regular basis but I will be excited to see USA in the next World Cup.

An update on the shoulder.... still hurting. I don't know what's going on with my stupid body! My shoulder feels as if there is a hot poker in it and I have a HUGE ulcer in the roof of my mouth that hurts every time I swallow!

Tonight is a birthday dinner for Kelly and tomorrow is softball with Tristan. No rest for the weary!

Supper Club - June Edition

I am so thankful to have such wonderful friends in my life. This week I got to eat lunch with some of my Harbert girls and then had Supper Club last night. Now I just need to squeeze in a night with my KPMG ladies...hint...hint!

Last night's menu: steak and chicken kabobs, a very tasty pasta salad, greek salad, I brought some jalapeno poppers from my garden, and two desserts. Stacey brought a strawberry cake and Kelli made a fruit tart that looked a little something like this...

TASTY! I love getting new recipes from my supper club girls!

I'm feeling quite neglected by the hubs lately. I wake up to soccer, come home to soccer and go to bed to soccer! I can't wait until the World Cup is over! I may have to INSIST on a date night tonight!

I was reading back through some older posts and came upon the hunger one. Luckily, I can update that the hunger has passed. I'm still eating quite a bit and often, but I don't have the sudden onset of starvation anymore! While that problem has resolved itself, another one has emerged. For the past several days I've had severe pain in my right shoulder. It hurts to breathe. I thought I was actually going to be sick at one point today it was hurting so badly. I've been taking ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer at night but they don't seem to be helping. I don't know if it's related to the Lupron or if I have damaged it in some way. If it doesn't feel better in a few days I guess I'll have to head to the doctor.

Which brings me to a funny work story: My work is considering switching health insurance carriers. To do this the new insurance company needs a complete medical history from each employee. I had to write out a list of ALL of my medical problems and surgeries over the past 7 years! IT WAS RIDICULOUS! I had to add an additional sheet of paper! Poor me!

An Astonishing Update

You may remember my IVF buddy, Kara, from a few months ago. We were on the exact same timeline. Almost everything was the same in our journey except that I got the infection and her IVF didn't work. I hope mine does!!

Well... she updated her blog with news that she is adopting. A birth mother has already picked them and she'll be giving birth in 5 months! WOW! They had only begun the adoption process a month ago and they're already getting a baby! This must have been God's plan for them! Congrats and Good Luck to Kara!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dad's out there. A special Happy Father's Day to my Dad, my Father-in-Law and my wonderful husband!

John decided he wanted to go hiking today so we packed a few waters and headed to the Preserve trails. It was fun but we got lost. We made it to a spot where we could hear cars driving down the road so we cut through the woods to get there. It turned out that we were very far from the car! So we had another 30 min hike to get back! It was crazy hot too! John was also injured... poor thing. He got stung TWICE by yellow jackets!

Squealing like a school girl

You may recall that I mentioned in a previous post my friend Gloria (aka G-Slo) got engaged! She is a dear friend from college who left me and moved back to Houston several years ago. Yesterday I received a package from her which I thought was a save the date with some accommodation information. I was surprised with a photo album documenting the last 6 years of our friendship and the SUPER sweet card asking me to be by her side as she gets married. I was so touched! What a thoughtful and inventive way to ask! With my current "situation" I'm not sure what the future holds but I am delighted to even be asked! The below is a picture from the last wedding I was a bridesmaid... Rhonda's. It's a pic from her bachelorette party in Destin - FUN! Rhonda is in the middle with the tiara, then G-slo is in front of her diagonal to the right, then I'm to the right of G-slo. Yes I had short hair!
There's something about a wedding that makes me want to squeal! I have two this year! SQUEAL!

I have a slight adjustment to Wednesday's post. The Dr. appt has been moved back to July 14th. They will do an u/s, check my estrogen and check the CA-125. If all of that is ok then I can proceed with the frozen embryo transfer (FET). Unlike the IVF we went through in March, the FET will be quick! As soon as I get the go ahead I'll start taking estrogen. Then 10-14 days later they'll transfer! No BCP's, no needles every night, no countless appts for blood tests... it will be awesome!

I can't believe I'm saying this but it would almost be better if I did have to wait another month. I have a lot going on in August. I have a beach trip with the Supper Club Girls for Aug 14th weekend, LL's bachelorette party Aug 7th, and her wedding Aug 21st weekend! Whatever the outcome, I'll make it work... I always do!

Shot in the Hip

It was that time last night... time to take my next Lupron shot. I am very happy that this Lupron is only one shot monthly rather than daily shots! However, it's the big needle so John had to give it to me. My next Dr. appt is 7/9 to see if my CA-125 is negative. If it is then we will proceed with the transfer. If it's still positive I'll have to take another 4 week long shot on 7/13.

Recently, I have gained a more positive perspective about the fertility issue. I have decided that this will be my last summer without a baby! By next summer I will either be pregnant or already have a child! SO - I'm trying to enjoy every second of my last commitment free summer!

Please say a prayer for Mom and Dad Z today. They are leaving for an 8 week trip to Greece! We are so jealous and hope they have a wonderful vacation!

Do you know what is on my desk at work? Yes, a picture of my handsome husband... but what else? A snowbaby figurine! My dear friend Stacey said she saw it in a little shop and thought of me. She's so sweet! It's a snowbaby holding a tiny little gift box. The little box opens and you are supposed to put your wish inside. I think you can all guess what my wish was!

Thanks Stacey! Every time I look at it, I'm reminded of my precious angels and all of my supportive friends and family.

Happy Birthday Lexi

Do you know what we missed while we were in Canada??? Lexi's birthday! She was 2 years old on June 8th. She's not a baby anymore! The bouncy puppy full of energy has been replaced by this little lady... she loves to lounge on a pillow!

Puppy dog dreams to you and yours!

Milk and Infertility?

Who knew there was a connection?? Scientists from Harvard School of Public Health conducted a study on the connection between dairy products and fertility. The study showed that eating two or more lowfat dairy products per day increases the chance of infertility in women by 85%. However, drinking one glass of whole, organic milk per day decreased infertility by 50%. Guess what's in my fridge starting today...

The Dr. recommends switching back to lowfat dairy once achieving pregnancy due to the saturated fat content in whole milk.

There are so many of these little factoids that it's hard to keep up. Eat this; don't eat that. Drink this but not that. Take this vitamin but stay away from this herb. It's too much! I'm just trying to eat right, exercise and heed as much advice as possible.

World Cup

I'm not sure if any of my American followers know this but the World Cup starts today. John is crazy excited about it! Greece plays tomorrrow morning at 6:30am our time and then USA is at 1:30. We will be at Tristan's softball game during the USA game so John is recording it. If any of you see my husband tomorrow PLEASE do not tell him a score. I think he might lose it!

Now for some promised pictures:
Mark at his T-ball game.

Tristan loves Chris and Stella!

Home Sweet Home

We didn't get home until 9:30 last night so we were pretty darn tired today. It was too late to go pick up Lexi so I'm eagerly awaiting her arrival right now. Margaret is bringing her over at 7 PM. I can't wait to see her bunny face!

I checked out my peppers this morning and I had 10 full grown jalapenos! And about 8 more almost full grown! This was out of TWO pepper plants! Also, I have some tomatoes growing. The picture below is AFTER I picked the 10 peppers!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's blog with pictures from our trip!!

Heading Home

We are pampered, rested and plumped and now it is time to head home. We are always so sad the day that we leave T.O.... especially John. I know it's hard for him to leave his whole family for a year. Maybe they can make a trip down in the fall to ease the sadness. :o)

Tomorrow we're catapulting back into the real world. I have my new job to get back to and John has a lot of catching up to do. Luckily we only have a two day work week.

We've been receiving updates from Margaret about our sweet lil Lexi. She loves staying there because she has two furry friends to play with, Margaret and Ron to spoil her rotten, and a doggie door with a huge backyard. It's like she's been on vacation too! She's going to be depressed when we show up and take her back home!

We found a cord so here are some pics for your visual pleasure.

Check out the smorgasbord of meat on that table!! We're talking chicken wings, chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, and steak.... for one meal!

I love coming to Canada. I always seem to find a new experience. This trip Kristine and I decided to get pedicures. Nothing new there... I get them quite often in Alabama. However, when we were picking out our color, the little Asian lady asked if we wanted shellacking. I immediately turned to Kris b/c I assumed I heard wrong... shellack? Kris stared at me so apparently she has never heard of this either. We tried and LOVE it! My toenails are so shiny and the lady said they won't chip. It's the newest and hottest trend so it will trickle down to Alabama in a few years. haha. Hopefully sooner than that. It's a special polish that has the shellack in it. She had to use a UV light between the base coat, color coat, 2nd color coat, and top coat so it took a lot longer. But so worth it!

All of the family time is great. I think Mom Z believes we don't eat at home so she has to fatten us up while we're here. It's working! Who wouldn't put on a few lbs with all of these made-from-scratch goodies: chocoloate chip cookies, Christmas cookies, tea cookies, boston cream pie, strawberry pie, ice cream, easter bread, pizza, tiropita, hummus, baba gannoug, pasta salad, and all of the meat you can eat!!! Seriously people!!

I didn't bring my camera cord so I'll have to post a lot of pics when we get back. I have some good ones though... anticipation!

Pleasantly Plump

We arrived safe and sound yesterday afternoon. Within 5 minutes of arrival I was stuffing my face with pizza. I didn't stop there. I had cookies, ice cream, strawberries and Easter bread.... whoa. John looked at me as if to say "your thighs are not going to like this" every time I walked in the kitchen. He later told me that he was not thinking that but I'm not buying it. I'm going to attempt to control myself today.

We have a pretty lazy day planned. John has to get his passport renewed so we'll let Tristan stay with her Yia Yia and maybe do a little shopping while we're out.

Oh Canada!

I am so happy to be leaving for Canada in the morning! His parents spoil us rotten and we have such a great time when we're there! I know the Hubs is super excited too! We sure will miss Lexi though. We had to drop her off with Margaret a little while ago and she was crying when we left.

Jess and I saw SATC 2 yesterday and it was really good! We were not disappointed. I could totally relate to Samantha's menopause moments. haha.

P.S. - If you're reading this and know where we live.... We have an alarm system and gun toting, NRA members for neighbors. You've been warned!
