Emma

Happy Birthday to the most precious Goddaughter ever!! We love you Emma!

And now it's time for a Bella update!

It’s hard to believe that this:

has now turned into this...
A sweet, beautiful, thriving doggie. Here’s a little note from her new parents:

Thank you so much for your and John's choice of us as her new parents. She is really getting plump. I guess we'll have to adjust down some on her food (after Christmas)!! She is extraordinarily healthy though. She sleeps on a pillow now between us. (Our idea not hers. She was content to stay in the crate, but we felt bad for her to be away from us...so in she came). Usually, about 9:30 PM she starts a staring routine to let us know it's time to go to bed. We absolutely can't figure out how we did without her.

Thank you again. You two gave us the very best early Christmas present ever.

Although we only had her 4 days, I was so upset when we had to give her away. It makes it so much easier to know she's being loved!

Christmas Snow

If Frosty the Snowman taught me anything it’s that Christmas snow is MAGIC snow! Since we live in Alabama I’ve never experienced a White Christmas. Imagine our surprise Christmas morning when we awoke to this beautiful sight:

You better believe the Hubs and I were out there catching it with our tongues and letting that magic snow fall all over us. We could use a little magic in 2011!

Slumber Party

We had such a good time at our slumber party Saturday night and brunch Sunday. It was so good to catch up with the ladies. We told stories, laughed, cried and even threw in some dye jobs! I took another shot at going dark... and it worked this time!

My before shot!

Jess and Em getting prepared.

LL and I in the process of going dark!

I love this picture of Jess in the background. Pure joy!

The whole gang after brunch. See how dark my hair is!

Could Emma be more accessorized? She's adorable!

I'm so thankful to have these girls in my life! There's never a short supply of laughs when we get together.

PS - Don't worry about the Hubs... He wasn't sitting sadly at home missing me. He was out having a blast with the guys.

Supper Club

I forgot to take pictures until after we had made our plates so the pictures of the food aren't the greatest... but you get the idea.

To drink: A festive cranberry and lime cocktail! Yum.

The green beans with almonds and prosciutto.

Shrimp and Grits!

Dinner was delicious and the company was fabulous!

Tonight I have a slumber party with Jess, LL, Em and Rach and then Rhonda is joining us for the annual Christmas Brunch tomorrow morning. Looks like I'm in for another fun night!

On a more serious note: I need my prayer warriors! A family member of ours was admitted to the hospital this week and will have to stay there for quite a while. Out of respect for this persons privacy I will not divulge any more details but I want to say we're thinking about you and praying for you!

Fertility News: My surgery was rescheduled for Jan 14th. Let's get this show on the road!

Shrimp and Grits

That’s what my Supper Club ladies will be feasting on tomorrow night. I really shouldn’t attempt a new recipe for a Supper Club but I want to do something different. Shrimp and Grits sounds like a winner! I’ll report back on Friday with reviews...

I could use some suggestions for preparing the shrimp. Here’s what I’m planning to do:

1. Saute 2 cloves garlic, prosciutto and ½ small onion in a small amount of olive oil*

2. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink

3. Squeeze ½ lemon over the shrimp and sprinkle 1 tbsp* parsley

4. Add ½ cup* of heavy cream to deglaze the pan and give the sauce creaminess

5. Spoon the shrimp with sauce over the grits

*This will all be by eye as I very rarely whip out a measuring cup in my kitchen.

What do you guys think? Do you know of any other spices or accompaniments that would make this dish sing?

I’ll also be preparing skinny green beans with prosciutto and slivered almonds as the side dish....also a new recipe... YIKES! At least there will be an appetizer, salad and dessert in case I mutilate the main course!

Also, I’m really scared I’m not going to prepare enough. I don’t eat very much so I tend to underestimate the amount normal people eat. How many pounds of shrimp will 7 small ladies eat??

Finally some photos from the last few days:

The girls with the Bride-to-Be.

A sweet father/daughter moment at the rehearsal.

The blushing bride!

The reception.

Their first dance.

John said there was a lot of this going on while I was gone.

This one is from last night. Aren't they so cute playing with the magnets?

So Sweet!

So Much

I have quite a few posts with the material that has happened over the past few days. I planned to sit down last night after I got home form Austin and post lots of pictures of the beautiful bride, but that didn't happen. I was so tired!!! Who Knew hanging with 6 girls would be so tiring?!

So I have all of that I need to post.... but something else exciting happened as I got back into Bama... it was snowing! Winter's first snow in the South! None of it stuck of course but that's about all we get around here. It is wickedly cold so I wish it had snowed a bit harder. I'm sure some of it would have stuck. AND yes Canadians... it's cold! Really cold! to the tune of -8 degrees Celsius tonight! That is a NEGATIVE sign in front of that 8! COLD!

I was going to post some pictures tonight and clean my house but I received an unexpected phone call this morning. (BTW - My phone is broken so I can hear you but you can't hear me. Text me if you need me.) It was Jess asking if I could keep Emma tonight. YAY! I picked her up from school today and already have her in bed. So I will not be posting pictures tonight (or cleaning my disgusting house.) Supper Club is at my house Thursday night so I have to figure out some time to clean! Maybe it's a good time to call a maid!

Off to Texas

I'm hopping a flight to TX tomorrow afternoon! I can't wait to see Gloria and spend some time with the gals!

Tonight I'm quarantined to the bedroom because Tristan and John are having their "daddy/daughter" date at our house. They cooked dinner together and are now watching a movie curled up on the couch... so cute. I did feel pretty blessed when Tristan asked her dear old stepmom to come down and eat with them.

I'll be back on Sunday with lots of pictures and stories!

Could It Be??

...that I am almost done with my Christmas shopping? I do still have a few things to get but I am way ahead of the game... and I LIKE IT!

The Hubs and I had a nice, relaxing weekend. He was off work Thursday and Friday so he had a nice 4 day weekend! I was not so lucky. However, it was nice to come home to a clean house. I could get used to a house husband!

I wrapped presents most of the day Saturday and we went to his Iguana Soccer Club party Saturday night which was really fun. Then Sunday John made some ribs and we finally went to see Harry Potter! I thought it was pretty awesome!

I leave Thursday afternoon headed to Austin, TX for Gloria’s wedding so I’m glad I got some down time with my man. We’re usually so busy with other stuff that we don’t have time to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. It was really nice... I highly recommend it! I’m sure he’ll be pining away for me while I’m gone. :0)

Fertility News: I booked my surgery for Friday, Jan 21st. Hopefully we’ll be able to start the baby-making process in February!

Everything I’ve Got

This is it... I feel the end approaching. Therefore, I’m giving it all I’ve got in 2011! I’m going to have the surgery; I’m going to eat healthy and workout; I’m going to take the special vitamins and DHEA; I’ll drink room temperature liquids so my uterus isn’t “cold”; I'm praying, meditating and thinking happy thoughts; I’ll take the hormone shots; I’ll cut back on alcohol, dairy and sugars; I may even try acupuncture! Heck I may even try another IVF if the opportunity arises. If you’ve heard of some special mineral, herb or tonic that will get me pregnant then bring it! I’m taking suggestions! This is it! If this year doesn’t produce a baby then we’re moving on to foster care or adoption or something that involves a child in my house. John has mentioned hanging out at high schools to ask pregnant teenagers if we can have the baby. :o) Maybe we’ll place an ad in the penny saver a la Juno style. The sky is the limit!!! With the exception of more treatment. We’re done with treatment after 2011.

A lot of people have told me that once I give up I’ll get pregnant. However, when I give up I have to go back on birth control pills to ease the endometriosis and adenomyosis. So it’s not going to happen. When we give up... it’s over. The dream of a biological child is gone. So I hope you’ll support us in 2011 with prayers and encouragement AND support us with even more prayers and more encouragement if the time comes to let go of the dream.
