Tasty

Poor C must taste delicious.  He just keeps getting bitten at school.  Last week he was bitten on the face!  On the FACE!  My poor baby!
His poor nose

And his poor arm.

His school is upsetting me about it because I feel like they're trying to blame it on him.  They say that he's taking other kid's toys.  Of course he shouldn't be taking other's toys but I don't think that warrants a bite on the face! His teachers are keeping a better eye on him but I feel like they're starting to consider him a "problem child."  He is definitely a rough and tumble boy but he is NOT a problem child.  He's so sweet.  He just needs a little guidance.

Today Tristan came over to spend some time with the boys.  She's leaving for the beach tomorrow and we're leaving for Canada on Thursday so we won't see her for a while.  They played outside a while and she helped give C a bath.  They seemed to have a great time.

My parents kept him for the night last night. I needed some time to get everything ready for our trip and they wanted to spend some time with him.  They had a great time together.  They let him have sweet tea for the first time and M&Ms.  And they wondered why he wouldn't fall asleep until 10pm!  I'm so grateful that my parents wanted to spend time with him and John and I got to have a little alone time.

Looking forward to Canada

We leave for Canada next week!  I'm so excited!!!  I can't wait for all of John's family to meet lil man.  It seems so weird that only his parents have seen him in person.  I know they're all going to love him!

We had a great Father's Day weekend!  Tristan came over for a bit and then she and John went out to eat.

Kisses!

Sweetness!

We went to the pool with Jess, Emma & James on Saturday.

Still not so sure about the pool.
Fun with Emma.

We went out to eat as a family for the 2nd time!

Sharing some water with Daddy

A Week of Firsts

In the past week Christian has gone to McDonald's, played in their playground area and eaten his first happy meal.  He also went to the zoo and to the pool for the first time.  He got his first super noticeable boo boo too.
Splashing with Daddy

Looking at the monkeys
Poor bud fell face first off the arm of the couch and landed on a laundry basket.  He cried for about 4.2 seconds.  He's so tough.
He is definitely picking up a stubborn streak.  He threw a fit for a solid 10 minutes tonight because I shut the pantry door so he couldn't dig in the trash.  I'm so terrible.  He threw such a fit that he started gagging. I didn't give in though.  I let him cry, stomp, gag and scream.  When he finally calmed down I gently explained that I know he was upset but he can't dig in the trash.

He's also trying to display his dominance.  He loves to pick up anything that can be used as a sword and smack me with it.  I've been taking away whatever the object is and saying "NO HITTING" very sternly while looking him in the eye.  He usually cries for whatever it was I took away but then goes to find something else to swing at me.  I seriously don't know what to do.  I don't want to say "No hitting" and then hit him.  What kind of message is that sending?  And when John does pop his hand all C does is grin.  I don't think he gets it yet.  So....  we're dealing with some pretty normal but frustrating terrible two antics in our household these days.  The weird thing is that he never bites or hits John.  Maybe the hand smacking does work... or maybe he knows that I'm a sucker.  But who wouldn't be a sucker for this sweet face???

Prayers

This quote makes my heart ache.  It breaks my heart to know that there are so many good parents out there waiting for children, yet so many children with no parents.  My heart is called to foster these children.  One day...

“If you make me lunch," he said, "will you put it in a brown paper bag?...Because when I see kids come to school with their lunch in a paper bag, that means that someone cares about them. Miss Laura, can I please have my lunch in a paper bag?”
Laura Schroff,

Please remember these children in your prayers and that they will one day have a loving parent to pack them a lunch.

Fever Virus

Poor little man has had a fever since Sunday morning.  Of course, Tristan had an out of town tournament this weekend.  So John was gone Saturday night and didn't get home until 2am Monday morning.  It was tough taking care of him by myself and luckily my parents came up for a few hours Saturday & Sunday.  I was dog tired by the time John got home...the fever made him wake up during the night and stay awake for hours!  I'm glad he went though because Tristan's team one the tournament and she had a great weekend of hitting.  She almost hit a grand slam homerun!  It bounced off the top of the fence.

C is finally feeling better today but my mom came up to watch him anyway.  I think they had a great time together!
My mom sent this picture today
First Happy Meal!
This outfit is so sweet!
He's so funny these days.  He fist bumps, spins around in circles, and LOVES his LaLa (Lexi.)  He climbs on everything and thinks it's ok to fling himself off of the furniture.  He is one tough cookie. When you tell him it's time to change his diaper he will go get the changing mat, put it on the floor and lie down. He has also started saying "Wow!" I don't think I say "Wow" so I'm not sure where he picked it up.  But he says that and "uh oh" constantly.
